How close is the movie Alexander to the truth?

You know, the one with Colin Farrel, Jared Leto, and Angelina Jolie?

Human history is a bit hazy that far back, so no one can tell you for sure. The essential points most people agree on are there. Alexander was from Macedonia, his father was Philip, and Alexander did witness Philip’s assassination in the marketplace.

Alexander did marry Roxane, and Hephaestion was definitely his closest friend and companion (though we can’t really say if he was more than that). It wouldn’t have been that frowned upon if they were lovers, though. The Greeks didn’t mind too much, and he approved of the practice among his troops, the rationale being that his soldiers would be much more invested in protecting each other’s @$$es if they had something interesting to do with it once the battle was over and it was time to celebrate. Besides, who’s going to tell Alexander the Great he’s not allowed to do that?

What you can be pretty well guaranteed isn’t true is Alexander being a really white looking blond boy. The Greeks are a very olive-skinned people, and thought people as white as Colin Farrell were plain unnatural looking.

I saw a preview of her interview with Anne Curry. She is a pretty woman but her lips seemed very oddly plump to the point she had a hard time talking. She kinda resembles Angelina Jolie. Do you think her face looks funny. Watch her video interview and see for yourself.
